John 21:19b-22

Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!"

Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?") When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?" NIV

Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." NIV

A Thought

Two times, in this Scripture, Jesus told Peter to ‘follow me’.

The second time, Jesus was blunt — you must follow me. Don’t pay attention to what other people are doing. They are doing what I need them to do. You are to do what I am asking you to do.

How often do you want Jesus to tell someone else to do something — so you don’t have to do His request.

How often do you tell Jesus — you’ll do what He is asking when someone else does it too.

Jesus is always talking to ONLY you. No one else can build your relationship with Him.
