Patience

Patience
The bad news is that the word patience is a negative word to the world’s way of thinking. It is the lack of something you don’t have and something you don’t want to deal with to receive it!

How many times have you said, ‘You really try my patience!’ or ‘That’s it, my patience is gone!’ or ‘I don’t have any patience’ or ‘I’m patiently waiting?’ In the same breath, you are grumbling, complaining that no one is concerned about you, that you have more things to do than wait for them!

The world says it’s ok to be impatient because everyone is at one time or another!

Lack of patience usually means that you have a short fuse on your temper. You ‘blow’ when anyone ticks you off because your patience is gone! You call it lack of patience but that is a cover up for unresolved anger issues.

The world says it’s:

• ok to have anger issues and to be angry at someone.

• someone else’s problem not your problem!

Lack of patience is a lack of consideration or love for others. Lack of patience is selfish, putting yourself first.

Do you understand what these two sentences are saying?

Satan is at the bottom of this pile of words:

• lack of consideration

• lack of love for others

• selfish

• putting yourself first

Those definitely are not Godly words!

There is good news! There is hope!

Patience in God’s terms is:

• a positive term.

• cheerful or hopeful; patiently expectantly waiting.

• that you are expectantly waiting to show someone love.

• that you are expectantly waiting to see how God will reveal Himself to you!

Look around and see how God is working in other situations as you are waiting to receive His promise to you!

God is waiting to give you blessings - when you remain patient, calm, and loving. Will you consider how many times He was patient with you? Respond to people with a loving attitude and you will see a decrease in your patience problem! Love is patient and kind. (I Corinthians 13:4) NLT

Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. (Ephesians 4:2) NLT

God expects you - the Lord’s servants:

• to be kind to everyone.

• to teach effectively.

• to be patient with difficult people. (II Timothy 2:24) NLT

Do you understand that as a parent, you are a teacher?

• as you are patient with difficult people?(even two year olds and teenagers)

• teaching how to show God’s love!

Do you understand that as a teenager, a child, you are a teacher?

• to your classmates

• to your friends

• to your family

Jesus was patient with the Pharisees and the Sadducees when they objected and argued with His teaching. He remained patient with Peter when Peter cut off the ear of a Roman soldier, on His way to being crucified!

That’s the kind of patience Jesus wants you to use!

The following are several verses or statements that you may say to replace your impatience and remove satan from you heart.

1. Satan, get out of my heart and take your impatience with you. There is no place in my heart for impatience or you.

2. I AM patient.

3. I AM waiting to see the blessings that God has prepared for me.

4. I am coming boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There I will receive His mercy, and I will find grace to help me when I need it. (Hebrews 5:16) NLT

5. I (God) will send showers, showers of blessings, which will come just when they are needed. (Ezekiel 34:26b) NLT
