satan — Who Is He?
First of all—satan is his name.
He deserves the least amount of attention a person can give him and does not deserve to have his name spelled with a capital S.
Unfortunately, he ‘runs loose’ in our heart and is given too much power just because we do not recognize him nor do we know how to get him our of our heart, soul, and mind.
The following is a partial list of who satan is.
1. Liar—he cannot tell the truth. He makes lies look like truth.
2. Convincing—he attempts to make you doubt what you know.
3. Twister—he twists the truth and you think it is ok to be afraid of the truth.
4. Good listener—he learns what is important to you by listening to what you say.
5. Crafty—he is full of wrong ideas
6. Salesperson—He can lead you to do (buy) something you don’t need or want
7. Cheater—he cheated Adam and Eve out of the beautiful garden.
8. Fast—you don’t recognize what he is doing until it becomes harder for you to change
9. Quiet—you don’t know he is there until he makes noise. The damage is done by the time you hear him.
10. Thief—he steals your love, your family, your peace, your patience, your health, anything that is important to you
11. Jerk—he pulls the wool over your eyes so that you don’t recognize the truth until it is too late.
12. He’s happy when you do wrong.
Have you seen satan working in your life?
OK, that is who he is-how do you get rid of him? How do you chase him from your heart, from your life?
It is not as difficult as you think. Actually, satan wants you to think it is really hard so that you never try to get rid of him.
You should understand a simple concept first. If you are holding a gallon jug of water and you decide you would rather have a 2 liter bottle of soda; then you have to put the jug of water on the table. Your hand is empty until you pick up the bottle of soda to replace the jug of water.
Basic, simple understanding that you cannot have a gallon jug of water in your hand and hold the 2 liter bottle of soda in the same hand at the same time!
Change the bottles to God and satan. God cannot be in your heart if satan is there. In fact whenever you put God in your heart, satan leaves fast, really fast!
1. Ask God to help you recognize satan and what he is doing in your life, in your family’s life.
2. Whenever you think of something that you know is wrong or you want to do something wrong, then recognize those thoughts and action as satan.
3. Say it out loud, ‘satan, get out. You are not going to make me do ________.’ ‘satan, you are not going to make me angry. Get out and leave me alone.’
Tell him to go several times, loud, so he understands you mean what you are saying.
Satan has gone, but you must immediately put God in the space that satan left. Remember, your hand was empty until you picked up the bottle of soda.
4. Thank God that satan is gone. Ask God to give you good thoughts, a new idea to replace the wrong idea, a new action to replace the old one.
5. If the wrong stuff is still there, sing several songs. When God sees that you want to get satan moving, He will change your thoughts as well.
6. If you are having a very difficult time, go to the Bible and start to read anything, anywhere in the Bible. It not necessary, but it helps to read out loud. Continue to read until you feel God’s peace in your heart.
Satan CAN NOT be in the same place as God. He CAN NOT listen to God’s Word being read.
It IS this easy to get satan out of your heart, soul, and mind.
Satan has power in your life only when you give it to him. Think about that - when YOU give YOUR power to him.
Nothing is impossible with God.
